Leak detectors are used to identify and localize leaks in piping systems, process systems and installed wells (also called tracer gas detectors) by identifying gases that have a different thermal conductivity than ambient air. Leak detection test methods can consist of bar hole surveys (testing subsurface atmosphere via holes in soil or pavement), vegetation surveys, bubble leakage tests, and pressure drop test. These detectors identify potential combustible situations, loss of product and/or issues with structural integrity.
