Fixed monitoring systems are similar to portable air monitoring instruments except they are mounted permanently or semi-permanently, run continuously and have sensor options not available in their handheld counterparts. Additionally, you can install several transmitters/detectors to report conditions to one controller. These systems are frequently equipped with 4-20mA current loop output signals that can trigger an alarm/horn/siren, start a ventilation fan to evacuate accumulated fumes, shut down a process creating the hazardous situation, etc.
