The Vaisala WXT520 Weather Transmitter will collect the following parameters: humidity, barometric pressure, temperature, precipitation, and wind speed and direction. It is equipped with a WINDCAP Sensor that uses ultrasound to measure horizontal wind speed and direction.
The Vaisala-specific design consists of an array of three equally spaced transducers on a horizontal plane. The barometric pressure, temperature, and humidity measurements are combined in the PTU module using capacitive measurement for each parameter. The module can be easily changed without any contact with the sensors and is immune to flooding clogging, wetting, and evaporation losses in the rain measurement.
